Biographical / Historical
Donald W. Zielsch was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on August 18, 1933. After serving in the United States Army in the 1950s, Zielesch graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a BBA before taking the federal exam. His first federal position was with Fish and Wildlife Predator and Rodent Control as a management assistant. In the 1960s, he was selected to attend a Department of Interior management training program in Washington, D.C. and ended up staying in Washington for several years. Upon returning to Denver, he transferred to the Denver Wildlife Research Center and moved up to the director's office. Zielesch had opportunities in his career to assist with field research and to travel to several states and Haiti. He retired in 1985 but continues to organize the Wildlife Services retiree luncheons. His hobbies include travel and trains.

Abstract
Don Zielesch reminisces about his past work in administration in the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS), Wildlife Services at the Denver Wildlife Research Center. He shares his experiences of working for the Fish and Wildlife Services Predator and Rodent Control in Washington, D.C., for the Department of the Interior, and finally in the director's office as an administrative officer at the Denver Wildlife Research Center. Zielesch worked for several directors and supervised units in multiple states and Haiti.
