Hawaii Field Station Re-opening Records --
Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: NWRC 0018
Abstract
The Bureau of Biological Survey began research in Hawaii in 1935. By 1967 an official field station was built and staffed with DWRC researchers to conduct rodent control work in Hilo, Hawaii. In 1982, all federal funding for the Hilo Field Station was cut, which led to its closure in 1983. But in 1988 Congress appropriated funds to re-open and renovate the Hilo Hawaii Field Station. This collection consists of photographs and documentation that highlights the renovations and re-opening...

Abstract
The purpose of the Invasive Species Research Building project was to develop a research facility to be used to combat the nation’s growing invasive species problem. It would be used to study these species and formulate methods for controlling their spread and damage. It included laboratory space, a cage washing facility, a necropsy room, and climate-controlled animal rooms. The project was initiated in the summer of 2002 and was headed up by William Dusenberry, the Program Manager for...

Jackrabbit Research Station Records --
Collection
Identifier: NWRC 0016
Abstract
The Jackrabbit Research Station opened in 1963 in Twin Falls, Idaho. In 1972 the station’s research moved to predators, which remained the station’s main focus until it closed in 1992. The records in this collection were not all created at the Jackrabbit Research Station, but the records were maintained by scientists working at the site. For example, records pertaining to nutria were created during research in Houma, Louisiana by scientists who later transferred to the Jackrabbit...
