Biographical / Historical

Larry Sanders was born in Ada, Oklahoma on March 24, 1946. He served six years in the National Guard and seventeen years as a house painter before joining Wildlife Services in 1980. As a trapper for Wildlife Services, Sanders worked primarily in Colorado with the exception of a few years back in his home state of Oklahoma. As an avid outdoorsman, Sanders appreciates the fact that his job requires him to ride a horse and work with trained dogs. In his off hours he shares his love of the outdoors with his grandchildren. Sanders married Sue in 1966 and together they have two children.

Abstract

Larry Sanders reminisces about his current and past work for Wildlife Services, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). He speaks of his experiences as a government trapper in predator control and research (primarily coyotes) and the different methods he used including traps, snares, and dogs.
