Abstract

Gale J. Halvorson discusses his past work in the fur trade and his role in working for Wildlife Services, Animal and Plant Inspection Service (APHIS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). He speaks of trapping a variety of animals such as badger, coyote, and beaver using traps and lures. Halvorson spent his career in wildlife depredation control and wildlife management.

Abstract In 2005, the USDA/APHIS Wildlife Services program (Wildlife Services) began work on the Trapping Oral History Initiative. Dr. John Shivik approached Nancy Freeman, NWRC Archivist/Records Manager, in July 2004 with an idea for capturing the experiences and knowledge of Wildlife Services trappers.
