Scope and Contents The Bureau of Biological Survey Bird and Rodent Lantern Slide Collection consists of two series of dated and undated lantern slides that are organized into five boxes. Scope and Contents Series I includes six boxes of records related to the management of bird damage to agriculture and aquaculture in the Southeast. The majority of records in this collection were created during the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s. Topics include control of damage caused by cormorants, egrets, and herons at fish farms and control of damage to agriculture and feedlots by blackbirds, starlings, and grackles. Series I contains annual reports, work plans, research data, correspondence, memorandum, and news clippings. Topics covered in this series include control of rodents in sugarcane and macadamia orchards and control of coqui frogs and feral swine. Also included are rodent control reports from the BBS, as well as reports from the Hawaiian Sugar Planters’ Association.

Series II contains slides and photographs from the Hawaii Field Station. Topics covered include control of the Brown Tree Snake on Guam, rodent control in sugarcane and macadamia orchards, and field and lab work.

Scope and Contents

The WS Nebraska and Texas State Office Slides Collection consists of two series of 35mm slides that are arranged alphabetically across seven boxes. The slides date from 1959 to 1996, with the bulk between 1980 and 1990. They document rodents, birds, predators, livestock, dogs, wildlife damage, animal damage control projects, and people.
