Lynwood (Lyn)A. Fiedler was born in 1941 in Monroe, Michigan. He earned his B.S and M.A. degrees in biology from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Following his schooling, he worked in communicable disease management and pesticide safety for the Ohio Department of Health, the U.S. Department of Health, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In 1978, he joined the Denver Wildlife Research Center’s International Program. He, his wife, and two sons were stationed in the Philippines, where he was the project leader of a vertebrate pest research and training program. Following this, he was relocated to Denver at the Denver Wildlife Research Center, though his work did take him to many parts of the world in the ensuing years. In Denver, he was the project leader of an integrated pest management project aimed at reducing mammal damage to crops and rangeland resources. Lyn retired in 1998, right after the DWRC’s move to Fort Collins, but he continued volunteering at the Center for a number of years. During his career, Lyn won a number of awards, including the Plaque of Appreciation from the Philippine government, and other awards from state agencies, USDA, EPA, USFWS and international organizations.
