Biographical / Historical

Warren G. Moore was born in Soda Springs, Idaho on November 15, 1922. After graduating high school, Moore was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1943-1945 in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. Upon returning to Idaho, he got a job in the mines until health reasons forced him to find a job outdoors. Moore ran his own ranch and began trapping for the Idaho Fish and Game Department. Then from 1964-1984 Moore trapped for Wildlife Services and upon retirement trapped privately. Moore was married twice and has two children. He passed away in Soda Springs, Idaho on February 12, 2011.

Abstract

Warren Moore reminisces about his past work for Wildlife Services, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Idaho Fish and Game Department. He reminisces about his experiences as a government trapper in predator control (primarily coyotes and beaver) and the different methods used including traps, snares, lures, and aerial hunting. Moore talks about his experiences with animals, various Wildlife Services, and livestock protection.
