In 2005, the USDA/APHIS Wildlife Services program (Wildlife Services) began work on the Trapping Oral History Initiative. Dr. John Shivik approached Nancy Freeman, NWRC Archivist/Records Manager, in July 2004 with an idea for capturing the experiences and knowledge of Wildlife Services trappers.
