Scope and Contents

This series contains bulletins, circulars, handbooks, manuals, leaflets, and memorandums from the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). In 1940 the USDA’s Bureau of Biological Survey and Bureau of Fisheries merged to form the Fish and Wildlife Service within the United States Department of the Interior (USDI). The agency remained under this title until 1986. This series documents the work, policies, results, and focus of the FWS from roughly 1940 until 1970.
