Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

The Chemical-Biological Data Compendium was created in 1999 by chemists Edward Schafer and Walter Bowles. The Compendium is 95 volumes in length and is a compilation of data about all known or identified chemicals that were assigned a DRC# during the chemical testing period. The introductory records (Volume 1-3) to the compendium include a comprehensive description of the DRC number database, DRC compendium, associated Chemical-Biological Data records, instructions on how to use the database, and a Chemical Abstracts Registry Number (CAS RN) index. The Compendium (Volume 4-95) also includes summaries of the results of testing, identifies sources from which the data was taken, and provides additional information about other sources of information on the chemical and its biological, physical and chemical properties.

The preparation, creation, and publication of the compendium was supported, in part, through the Interagency Agreement 14-16-0009-81-957, funded in 1983 by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency, and Office of Toxic Substances. Support was also provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services, NWRC, and other individuals.
